Earth Inductor – Physics Instrument

The Earth Inductor is a flip coil used to measure the magnitude and direction of the earth’s magnetic field. The rotating coil is quickly flipped through 180 degrees, and the output is fed to a ballistic galvanometer. This is an improved form comprising a coil of different number of turns (500, 1000, 2000 or 5000 turns) of copper wire wound on an aluminum metal ring. A stop limiting rotation to 180 of the ring is provided with the help of the spring. The cradle supporting the coil of cast non-magnetic alloy high may be placed either horizontal or vertical. Terminals for connections are mounted on the cradle supporting blocks.
